johns phones are perhaps the antidote to the complex technology forward mobiles released each year. created and developed by the dutch design studio john doe, these phones aim to be one thing and one thing only: a phone. dubbed the world’s simplest cell phone, johns phones allow users to make and receive calls without add-ons like a camera, text messaging or a variety of ringtones. the interface is stripped down to the familiar keypad with buttons to adjust the volume and lock the buttons. users can store numbers using speed dial or record contact info using the paper address book and pen stored in the back. the phone comes with a one display that is used to show numbers located on the top side of the device. the phone comes in five colours and is currently available on the dutch market.
